What to expect in first class
A first class is a great introduction to mindful movement, building core strength and developing flexibility through dynamic exercise.
Expect a warm-up consisting of gentle movements to activate your core and and warm up your muscles. We’ll incorporate breathing techniques to improve control and focus. Depending on your level, you’ll be guided through relevant Pilates moves that address your personal needs.
Some staples from my class include:
THE HUNDRED - for core activation
BRIDGE - for spinal mobility and glute strength and the
SINGLE LEG STRETCH - for core and hip flexibility.
Don’t be put off by images you’ve seen of Pilates exercises! There are many variations, modifications and regressions available suited to different levels and needs. The focus will be executing the exercises with control, precision, and stability.
And forget about going fast and doing too intense movements! I’ll assist in correcting your alignment and posture to ensure proper technique, with appropriate adjustments for any injuries or limitations. We’ll finish off with some gentle stretches to release any tension and further improve flexibility. If you’re looking for a mindful reset, this could be incorporated into the session.
Pilates is a low-impact, yet highly effective. You will leave the class feeling energized, lighter and more aware of your posture. Let’s chat about your goals with daily movement and how to prepare for a first session.
From my mat to yours - stay strong, stay centered!
